Indian Highway Safety Program
The White Mountain Apache Police Department's Indian Highway Safety program is funded by a grant from the BIA Indian Highway Safety Program. The goal is to increase the WMAPD's traffic enforcement efforts aimed at reducing death and injuries on the reservation as a result of motor vehicle crashes. The White Mountain Apache Police Indian Highway Safety Program supports two (2) high visibility National mobilizations which are the "Click It or Ticket" and the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over." The WMAPD IHS also participates in the "Don't Shatter the Dream" mobilization through saturation patrols, sobriety checkpoints and high visibility patrols. Highway Safety Officers also provide educational presentations to elementary, high school and/or community members on Highway Safety and the effects of impaired driving.
